Even the Little Things

Today’s key verse is taken from the daily Bible reading plan at BibleInAYearOnline.com

The wine supply ran out during the festivities, so Jesus’ mother told him, ‘They have no more wine.’ … But his mother told the servants, ‘Do whatever he tells you.’ - John 2:3, 5 (NLT)

Isn’t it amazing that Jesus’ very first miracle wasn’t something huge and flashy? It wasn’t raising someone from the dead or feeding thousands, it was helping out at a wedding when the hosts ran out of wine.

Now, running out of wine at a wedding in that culture was a big deal, but still, it wasn’t life-or-death. Yet, Jesus chose that moment to reveal His glory. Why? Because He cares. Even about the small stuff.

Sometimes we think we shouldn’t bother God with the little things, like a tight budget, a minor disappointment, or a rough day. But here’s the truth: if it matters to you, it matters to Him. Jesus didn’t turn the water into wine just to show off. He did it because someone He loved had a need, and He was able to help.

And notice Mary’s confidence. She didn’t beg or panic. She simply brought the need to Jesus and told the servants, “Do whatever He tells you.” What if we did the same? What if we brought even our small worries to Him, trusting that He knows what’s best and will respond in His perfect way?

Today, whether you're dealing with something big or something small, remember that Jesus sees you. He’s not just the Savior of the world, He’s the Savior who notices when the wine runs out at a wedding.

Reflection Question: Is there a “small thing” in your life that you have been hesitant to bring to Jesus? If so, what would it look like to trust Him with it today?

Prayer: Jesus, thank You that nothing in our lives is too small for You to care about. Help us to stop holding things back and instead bring everything to You with confidence. Teach us to trust You in the everyday moments, not just the big ones. We choose today to say, “Do whatever You tell us.” In Jesus Name, Amen.
