Even Still

Today’s key verse is taken from the daily Bible reading plan at BibleInAYearOnline.com

As they were eating, Jesus took some bread and blessed it. Then he broke it in pieces and gave it to the disciples, saying, ‘Take this and eat it, for this is my body.’ - Matthew 26:26 (NLT)

Betrayal is one of the most painful experiences we can face, especially when it comes from someone close. In Matthew 26, Jesus shares the Last Supper with His disciples, fully aware that Judas had already arranged His betrayal. And yet, in one of the most powerful displays of grace, Jesus still offers Judas the bread and the cup.

Even still, Jesus offered love.Even still, He extended communion.Even still, He chose forgiveness.

What kind of love does that? A love that goes beyond fairness or justice. A love that looks past the offense and reaches toward restoration. A love that mirrors the heart of the Gospel.

Matthew 26:26 is a powerful reminder that the body of Jesus was broken for all, even those who betrayed Him. His sacrifice wasn’t limited to those who deserved it—because none of us ever could. It was poured out for both the faithful and the unfaithful, the loyal and the lost. And if Jesus could offer that kind of love in the face of such deep hurt, He can empower us to do the same.

If you’re carrying the weight of betrayal or the sting of rejection, let the broken bread remind you: healing and forgiveness are possible through Jesus. The same Gospel that saved you can also soften your heart toward those who’ve wronged you.

Reflection Question: Is there someone you need to forgive, even still, and how can you invite God into that process today?

Prayer: Lord Jesus, Thank You for showing me what true love looks like. Even in betrayal, You offered grace. Help me to walk in that same grace, to forgive, to heal, and to reflect Your heart. Let Your Gospel do a deep work in me today. In Jesus Name, Amen.
