Delight

Today’s key verse is taken from the daily Bible reading plan at BibleInAYearOnline.com

Delight yourself in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart. - Psalm 37:4 (NLT)

Have you ever carried a dream so big it felt impossible? A vision so bold that unless God steps in, it simply won't happen? Those are what we call God-sized dreams. They aren’t birthed from personal ambition or fleeting emotion, they originate from God Himself. And that’s what sets them apart.

Psalm 37:4 offers us the key to unlocking those kinds of dreams: delight yourself in the Lord. The word delight comes from the Hebrew word anag, meaning “to be soft or pliable.” Picture a lump of clay in the hands of a potter, moldable, yielding, and ready to be shaped. That’s what God desires from us, a heart fully surrendered, joyfully pliable in His hands.

When we delight in the Lord, we align ourselves with His heart. Our desires begin to mirror His desires. As we remain open and yielded, God plants His purposes within us, dreams that bring Him glory and advance His Kingdom. Then, in His perfect timing, He brings them to pass.

The promise of this verse isn’t a blank check for every want or whim. It’s a beautiful exchange: as we find our joy and satisfaction in God, He shapes our heart to long for what He desires. And because He’s the one who placed the desire there, He’s faithful to fulfill it.

So today, don’t focus on striving to make your dreams happen. Instead, focus on delighting in Him, enjoy His presence, seek His face, and trust His timing.

Reflection Question: What is one dream or desire you believe God has placed in your heart, and how can you stay pliable and surrendered to Him as you wait?

Prayer: Father, thank You for placing dreams and visions in my heart. Help me to delight in You daily and remain soft and surrendered in Your hands. Shape my desires to match Yours, and give me faith to trust that You will bring Your purposes to pass. In Jesus name, Amen.
