Daddy's Home
Today’s key verse is taken from the daily Bible reading plan at BibleInAYearOnline.com
Lord, through all the generations you have been our home! - Psalm 90:1 (NLT)
There’s just something about being home, isn’t there? Not just a house, but that feeling of comfort, safety, and being completely known. Psalm 90:1 puts it beautifully: “Lord, through all the generations, you have been our home.” It’s not just poetic, it’s a promise. God isn’t just a place we visit; He’s where we belong.
Now, think for a second about the words, “Daddy’s home.” What does that stir up in you? For some, those words might bring back happy childhood memories, running to the door for a hug, feeling safe and cared for. But for others, it might bring a little tension or even sadness. Maybe your dad was distant, harsh, or just not there. If that’s the case, seeing God as a loving Father can feel complicated.
That’s why I love what Jesus said in John 14:9: “If you’ve seen me, you’ve seen the Father.” In other words, Jesus came to show us exactly what the heart of God looks like. He was kind, welcoming, patient, and always ready to meet people right where they were.
One of my favorite stories is in Mark 2, when Jesus returns to a town, and word spreads fast. The house He was staying in got so packed, people were standing outside just hoping to get close. Isn’t that something? His presence didn’t scare people off, it drew them in. Why? Because people felt at home with Him.
The good news? That same invitation still stands. God isn’t distant or hard to approach. He’s home. And no matter where you are in life, He wants you to know, you’re welcome with Him.
Reflection Question: What helps you feel “at home” in God’s presence, and how can you rest in that today?
Prayer: Father, thank You for being my true home. Help me to let go of fear or striving, and just rest in Your love. I know You welcome me with open arms, every single time. In Jesus Name, Amen.
