Come and See
Todayâs key verse is taken from the daily Bible reading plan at BibleInAYearOnline.com
Philip found Nathanael and told him, âWe have found the one Moses wrote about in the Law, and about whom the prophets also wrote, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.â âNazareth! Can anything good come from there?â Nathanael asked. âCome and see,â said Philip. - John 1:45-46 (NIV)
Have you ever dismissed something too quickly, only to later realize it was exactly what you needed? Thatâs kind of what happened to Nathanael. When Philip told him about Jesus, Nathanaelâs first reaction was skepticism. âNazareth? Really?â It wasnât that he didnât believe that the Messiah would come at some point in history, itâs just that Jesus didnât show up in the way Nathanael expected.
But Philip didnât try to argue or convince him with facts. He simply said, âCome and see.â And that invitation changed everything.
Sometimes, we do the same thing with Godâs plans. We have expectations of how He should show up in our lives, and when things donât look like we imagined, itâs easy to question, hesitate, or even dismiss what Heâs doing. But Jesus often shows up in unexpected places, through quiet moments, unlikely people, or even in seasons we didnât ask for.
Maybe today, youâre unsure about where God is leading you. Maybe you're skeptical about how He could bring good out of your current situation. Hereâs the encouragement: donât walk away too soon. Donât let your assumptions block you from experiencing something amazing. Just like Philip told Nathanael, God says to us, âCome and see.â
Step a little closer. You might just discover something more wonderful than you expected.
Reflection Question: Where might God be inviting you to âcome and seeâ today, even if it doesnât look the way you thought it would?
Prayer: Lord, thank You for always inviting us closer to You. Help us not to dismiss what Youâre doing just because it doesnât match our expectations. Give us open hearts, open eyes, and the courage to follow You even when we donât fully understand. Teach us to trust that when You say âcome and see,â what weâll find is always good. In Jesus Name, Amen.
