Built to Last
“For we are both God’s workers. And you are God’s field. You are God’s building.” — 1 Corinthians 3:9 (NLT)
When Paul wrote to the Corinthians, he reminded them, and us, that our lives are not random or accidental. We are God’s building, created with intention and purpose by the Master Builder Himself.
In 1 Corinthians 3, Paul paints a picture of believers as a construction project. Jesus is the solid, unshakable foundation. What we build on that foundation matters deeply. Some build with gold and silver; others with wood and straw. But beyond materials, it’s about the heart: What are we building? What do we prioritize? Is it lasting or temporary?
The story of Ezra rebuilding the temple shows us God’s faithfulness in the process. Though opposition caused delays, the work resumed by God’s favor and prophetic encouragement. This reminds us that even when progress feels slow, God is not done. He finishes what He starts.
Sometimes discouragement comes when we don’t see instant results. But God is patient and intentional. He is building something lasting in you. Your delays and detours are part of His bigger plan.
Psalm 29 tells us the voice of the Lord is powerful and majestic, and that same voice speaks peace over His people. Today, let His voice speak peace over your process. You are His building, and He never builds without a beautiful plan in mind.
Reflection Question: What part of your life do you need to trust God is still building, even when it feels unfinished?
Prayer: Father, thank You for being the Master Builder of my life. Help me to rest in the work You are doing in me. Even when I do not see progress, I trust You are shaping something beautiful and lasting. In Jesus’ name, amen.
