Bigger Than You Think

Today’s key verse is taken from the daily Bible reading plan at BibleInAYearOnline.com

The Lord answered, ‘If you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mulberry tree, ‘May you be uprooted and be planted in the sea,’ and it would obey you! - Luke 17:6

We often think that in order to accomplish great things, we need big faith. We picture miracles requiring massive amounts of belief and unshakable confidence. But Jesus shows us that even the smallest amount of faith can move mountains, and even mulberry trees.

A mulberry tree, by the way, can grow as tall as eighty feet, with branches spanning over thirty feet. That's huge! Yet Jesus says that with faith as small as a mustard seed, you could command that tree to be uprooted and thrown into the sea, and it would obey. The key here isn’t in the size of the tree or the faith, but in understanding that even a little faith is more powerful than we realize.

This reminds me of the story of Joshua in Joshua 10:12. In the middle of battle, Joshua prayed for the sun to stand still so he could finish the fight. And guess what? God answered, giving Joshua the time he needed to win. That’s a huge miracle, and it came from a bold, but faith-filled prayer.

So, what does this mean for you today? Maybe you feel like your faith isn’t enough to overcome the challenges in your life. But the truth is, your faith, no matter how small it seems, is more powerful than you might think. God isn’t asking for perfection; He’s asking for trust. And when we bring even the smallest bit of faith to Him, amazing things can happen.

Reflection Question: What small step of faith can you take today, trusting that God can use it for something big?

Prayer: Father, thank You for showing me that even the smallest amount of faith is enough for You to do great things. Help me to trust You with what I have, no matter how small it seems. I believe that with You, nothing is impossible. In Jesus Name, Amen.
