Always Working

I will bring that group through the fire and make them pure. I will refine them like silver and purify them like gold. They will call on my name, and I will answer them. I will say, ‘These are my people,’ and they will say, ‘The Lord is our God. - Zechariah 13:9

God is always working in our lives, what a powerful truth! He does not waste a moment. Even in the hard seasons. Even in the stretching. Even in the waiting. He is always refining, always purifying, always bringing us closer to His heart.

Zechariah paints a picture of that kind of refining process. It is not always easy, but it is always filled with purpose. Just like silver or gold has to go through intense heat to shine, our hearts often walk through fire to become more like Him. But the fire is never the end of the story. His goal is always restoration. His desire is always relationship. He calls us His people. And we respond by saying, The Lord is our God.

Psalm 147 reminds us that God heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. What a comfort to know that we serve a God who is both mighty and tender. He is the One who placed the stars in the sky and also leans in close when we whisper His name. He is the God who restores.

So as the year comes to a close and you reflect on everything this season has held, remember this. No matter what has happened around you or within you, God is still writing your story. He is refining you, restoring you, and drawing you closer. He is not done. And He is always faithful.

Reflection Question: Where have you seen God refining or restoring you this year, even in ways you didn’t expect?

Prayer: Lord, thank You for being a God who restores. Thank You for refining my heart and calling me Your own. Help me to trust Your process and rest in Your goodness. I know You are not finished with me, and I believe You will complete what You have started. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
