A New Way to Live

From Today’s One Year Bible Reading Plan at BibleInAYearOnline.com

“Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” – Ephesians 4:31-32 (NIV)

Have you ever felt like you're stuck in a cycle of frustration, anger, or bitterness? It's easy to let negative emotions take hold, especially when life doesn't go the way we want. But in Ephesians 4:31-32, Paul offers a powerful reminder: we have the choice to let go of those feelings and embrace kindness, compassion, and forgiveness.

Think about it, holding onto anger or resentment is like carrying a heavy burden. It weighs us down and affects our relationships with others and with God. But when we choose to forgive, we release that burden and open ourselves to healing and peace.

Paul doesn't just tell us to forgive; he points us to the ultimate example, Jesus. Just as God forgave us through Christ, we are called to forgive others. It's not always easy, but it's a reflection of the grace we've received.

So, how can we put this into practice? Start by examining your heart. Are there areas where bitterness or anger have taken root? Ask God to help you release those feelings and replace them with His love and compassion.

Remember, forgiveness isn't about excusing someone's behavior; it's about freeing yourself from the grip of negative emotions. It's about choosing to live in the freedom that Christ offers.

Reflection Question: Is there someone you need to forgive today? What steps can you take to release bitterness and embrace kindness?

Prayer: Lord, thank You for the forgiveness You've extended to me through Jesus. Help me to let go of any bitterness or anger in my heart. Fill me with Your love and compassion so that I can forgive others as You have forgiven me. In Jesus' name, Amen.
