Under Your Feet
Today’s key verse is taken from the daily Bible reading plan at BibleInAYearOnline.com
The Lord said to my Lord, Sit in the place of honor at my right hand until I humble your enemies beneath your feet. - Matthew 22:44 (NLT)
David was a man of many battles, but even more, he was a man of unshakable confidence in the God who fought for him. From Goliath to the armies of enemy nations, David never saw defeat as an option, because he knew the presence of the Lord was with him. His secret weapon wasn’t his sword or strategy, it was his steadfast trust that God would place his enemies under his feet.
As New Testament believers, we walk in an even greater authority. David lived before the cross, but we live after the resurrection. Jesus has already won the ultimate battle. He is seated in the place of honor at the right hand of the Father, and Scripture says all things are under His feet. But here’s the powerful part: we are His body (Ephesians 1:22–23). If all things are under His feet, and we are joined to Him, then our enemies are also under our feet, because of Christ.
That means fear, doubt, shame, addiction, and every spiritual attack has already been defeated. But the enemy hopes we forget who we are in Christ. When we sit silently in defeat, he wins small battles through lies and intimidation. But when we rise in the authority Jesus gave us, knowing the power of the cross and the empty tomb, the enemy trembles.
So today, don’t live like a victim of life’s battles. You are not under the enemy, you are seated with Christ in victory. Your spiritual authority is not based on feelings but on what Jesus has already done.
Reflection Question: What area of your life do you need to reclaim through the authority you have in Christ?
Prayer: Jesus, thank You for the victory You secured for me. Help me to walk in the authority You’ve given, knowing that the enemy is already under my feet. Strengthen me to stand in Your truth and not in fear. In Jesus Name, Amen.
