Trusting in God’s Goodness
“How great is the goodness you have stored up for those who fear you. You lavish it on those who come to you for protection, blessing them before the watching world.” - Psalm 31:19 (NLT)
Isn’t it incredible that God has goodness stored up for us, good things we haven’t even thought to ask for? David is clearly in awe of God’s goodness here. It’s not just a little kindness; it’s lavish, overflowing, and exactly what we need. God doesn’t give us a “bare minimum” blessing. He pours it out in ways that make us stop and notice His love.
David says God lavishes this goodness on those who seek Him for protection. It’s not about hoping for good things; it’s about coming to God and trusting Him. When we do that, He doesn’t just meet our needs, He blesses us in ways that surprise us. Even in the waiting, we can trust that God is preparing something good for us.
Think about Nehemiah. He had a deep burden for Jerusalem and prayed for God’s favor. Nehemiah didn’t rush or try to do it alone. He waited on God’s timing. When the time came, God opened doors, made a way, and provided what was needed. Nehemiah didn’t have to make it happen, God’s goodness was already in motion.
Sometimes we don’t see God’s goodness in the waiting. It feels like nothing is happening and we wonder if it will ever come. But Psalm 31 reminds us that God’s goodness is being prepared, and in His perfect timing, He’ll pour it out in ways we never expected.
Reflection Question: Is there an area in your life where you’re trusting God for His goodness? How can you let go and rest in His timing today?
Prayer: God, thank You for Your goodness that never runs out. I trust that You are working behind the scenes, even when I can’t see it. Help me to trust Your timing and rest in the blessings You have for me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
