Think On It

From Today’s One Year Bible Reading Plan at BibleInAYearOnline.com

“And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.” - Philippians 4:8 (NLT)

Have you ever noticed how much our minds shape our days? The thoughts we entertain can either lift us up or weigh us down. The Apostle Paul knew this well and gave us a powerful guide in Philippians 4:8. He encouraged us to focus on things that are true, noble, pure, lovely, and admirable. In other words, he invited us to choose our thoughts with intention.

This isn't just about positive thinking; it's about aligning our minds with God's truth. When we fix our thoughts on what is good and praiseworthy, we invite peace and joy into our lives. It's like choosing to fill a cup with clean water instead of muddy water—it makes a difference in what we experience.

In his book Think and Grow Rich, Napoleon Hill emphasized the power of thought. He believed that our beliefs and attitudes shape our reality. While Hill's focus was on personal success, the principle aligns with Paul's message: our thoughts have the power to influence our lives. By choosing to think on things that are excellent and worthy of praise, we position ourselves to experience God's peace and fulfillment.

Today, let's take a moment to reflect on our thoughts. Are they aligned with what is true and noble? Are we focusing on the good, the pure, and the lovely? By intentionally choosing our thoughts, we can cultivate a mindset that honors God and brings peace to our hearts.

Reflection Question: What is one thought pattern you can change today to focus more on what is true and praiseworthy?

Prayer: Father, thank You for the gift of our minds and the ability to choose our thoughts. Help us to fix our minds on what is true, noble, pure, lovely, and admirable. Guide us to think in ways that honor You and bring peace to our hearts. In Jesus name, amen.
