The King of Glory
Today’s key verse is taken from the daily Bible reading plan at BibleInAYearOnline.com
The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it. - Psalm 24:1 (NLT)
It’s easy to get caught up in what we can control or what we think we own, but Psalm 24 reminds us that everything belongs to God. He is the creator and sustainer of all life, and we are invited to live as stewards, not owners. Recognizing His authority changes how we view our possessions, our time, and even our relationships.
In today’s readings, we see God’s sovereignty on display. In Exodus, Pharaoh resists God’s commands, yet God’s power over creation and nations is undeniable. In Matthew, Jesus teaches about the cost of following Him and the eternal rewards that come from trusting God rather than worldly wealth. Both passages emphasize that God’s authority and provision extend far beyond what we see.
Psalm 24 also calls us to prepare our hearts to receive Him. The gates and doors of our lives should be open to the King of Glory, allowing His presence to guide our actions and decisions. Living in awareness of God’s ownership over all things brings humility, gratitude, and confidence, knowing that He is in control even when circumstances are uncertain.
Today you may be managing responsibilities, relationships, or challenges that feel overwhelming. This verse reminds you to pause and remember that God is Lord over all. Trust Him with what you cannot control and invite Him to lead every part of your life.
Reflection Question: What area of your life can you surrender to God today, acknowledging Him as the King of Glory?
Prayer: Lord, thank You for being the King of Glory and for owning all that exists. Help me to trust You with my life, my resources, and my decisions. Teach me to live with humility and gratitude, and guide me to open my heart fully to Your presence today. In Jesus name, Amen.
