Surrounded by His Glory

From Today’s One Year Bible Reading Plan at BibleInAYearOnline.com

Then I, myself, will be a protective wall of fire around Jerusalem, says the Lord. And I will be the glory inside the city. - Zechariah 2:5 (NLT)

God does not just watch over us from a distance. He surrounds us. He guards us. He fills us from the inside out with His presence. That is what He promised through the prophet Zechariah. A wall of fire around and glory within.

This was not just about Jerusalem. This is a picture of what God wants to do in each of our lives. He wants to be your shield, your covering, your constant source of strength and peace. You are not exposed. You are not left unprotected. The fire of His presence stands between you and every attack. And while He guards you on the outside, His glory is working within you to strengthen and shape you.

Psalm 141 echoes this personal trust. David asks the Lord to guard his words and guide his steps. He knew he needed help not just from the outside world but from his own heart and thoughts. That is where God’s glory does its deepest work. He transforms us from the inside while keeping us steady on the outside.

Maybe today you’re feeling vulnerable. Maybe life feels overwhelming. But you are not without help. You are not alone. God is your covering. His fire is not there to burn you but to protect you. His glory is not far off. It lives in you by His Spirit. He is closer than you think and stronger than anything that comes against you.

Reflection Question: What would change if you truly believed that God is both protecting you with His fire and filling you with His glory? How would your perspective shift if you walked in that confidence?

Prayer: Lord, thank You for being a wall of fire around me and the glory within me. Help me to live with confidence in Your covering and awareness of Your presence. Shape me from the inside, guard me in every step, and remind me that I am never alone. Fill me with Your Spirit and strength today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
