SOZO Seeing
Todayâs key verse is taken from the daily Bible reading plan at BibleInAYearOnline.com
He replied, âWhat is impossible for people is possible with God.â - Luke 18:27 (NLT)
Sometimes what we need most is right in front of us, but we just donât see it yet.
In Luke 18, thereâs a blind man sitting on the roadside, hoping for some spare change. Itâs what heâs always done, same spot, same struggle, same small expectations. But on this particular day, something changes. He hears the noise of a crowd and asks whatâs going on. Someone says, âJesus of Nazareth is passing by.â
Thatâs when things get interesting. This man may have been physically blind, but spiritually? He had 20/20 vision. He didnât call out to âJesus of Nazareth,â like the others. He cried out, âJesus, Son of Davidâ, a bold declaration that he believed Jesus was the promised Messiah. Even as others tried to quiet him, he shouted louder. He was done settling for spare change when healing was in reach.
Jesus stopped. He called the man forward, restored his sight, and gave him even more than he asked for. Jesus told him, âReceive your sight, your faith has saved thee.â The Greek word for âsavedâ used here is sozo, which means total wholeness. This wasnât just about seeing again. This was salvation, healing, and a new beginning all wrapped up in one encounter.
And hereâs the beautiful part: God hasnât changed. The same Jesus who passed by that road still walks with us today. Heâs still the God who makes the impossible possible.
Like Jacob who thought heâd never see Joseph again, and like the blind man who had no idea how his story would change that day, God still surprises us with more than we expect, if weâll just look up.
Reflection Question: Is there an area in your life where youâve settled for less than what God wants to give you?
Prayer: Jesus, thank You that You see me, hear me, and care about every detail of my life. Help me not to settle for less than what Youâve provided. Open my eyes to see all Youâve made possible, and give me the boldness to believe big. In Jesus Name, Amen.
