Shout to the Lord

From Today’s One Year Bible Reading Plan at BibleInAYearOnline.com

“Shout to the Lord, all the earth; break out in praise and sing for joy! - Psalm 98:4 (NLT)

Have you ever had a moment where words just weren’t enough? Where your heart was so full or so heavy that all you could do was cry out to God? That is the heart of this verse. It is not about shouting for attention or drama. It is about letting what is inside of you rise up and pour out in praise, no matter what you are feeling.

When Darlene Zschech wrote Shout to the Lord, it wasn’t planned. It wasn’t polished or produced. It was raw, it was real, and it came from a place of personal worship. Sitting at an old piano, overwhelmed by life, she didn’t try to perform for God. She simply poured out her heart to Him. That is the beauty of worship. God meets us right where we are.

Shouting to the Lord does not mean yelling out in chaos. It means lifting your voice with confidence, boldness, and honesty. Whether you are shouting with joy or through tears, God hears every word. It is not about being perfect. It is about being present with Him.

The word “shout” in this verse is packed with meaning. It can mean crying out in victory, calling for help, or celebrating with praise. Whatever your heart needs today, God welcomes your voice. Your shout could be a whisper of trust, a song of joy, or a cry for breakthrough.

So do not hold back. Join with creation. Join with generations past. Join with churches all over the world. Lift your voice. Shout to the Lord.

Reflection Question: What is one thing you want to shout to the Lord about today, whether in joy, in need, or in praise?

Prayer: Father, thank You for inviting us to come to You with open hearts. Whether we are shouting in joy or in desperation, You are near. Help me to worship You with honesty and boldness today. I lift my voice to You, knowing You hear me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
