Out of This World Plan

From Today’s Reading at BibleInAYearOnline.com

“God has now revealed to us his mysterious will regarding Christ, which is to fulfill his own good plan.” -Ephesians 1:9 NLT

Every June 20th marks another anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing. What started as a bold vision from President John F Kennedy became a reality just seven years later. But one of the most powerful moments from that historic mission happened in silence.

Buzz Aldrin, one of the astronauts on board, was not only a pilot and engineer. He was also a deacon in his church. Before the mission, he asked his pastor for a small chalice, some wine, and a piece of bread. After the landing, while the crew waited to exit the lunar module, Aldrin took a quiet moment to take communion. Right there on the moon. He paused to remember Jesus and celebrate the plan of God to redeem the world through His Son.

Aldrin understood something powerful. God’s plan is not limited by time or space. It reaches from heaven to earth and even to the surface of the moon. Paul explains in Ephesians that God’s plan is not just good, it is perfect. At just the right time, He brought everything together in Christ. And when we put our faith in Jesus, we are brought into that plan. We are chosen. We are marked by the Holy Spirit. And we are guaranteed a future with Him.

You do not have to stand on the moon to celebrate God’s plan. Right where you are, you can rest in the truth that you are part of something far greater than you could imagine. His plan is still unfolding, and it includes you.

Reflection Question: How can you pause today and remember that you are part of God’s good and perfect plan?

Prayer: Father, thank You that Your plan for me is good and full of hope. Help me to trust You with the details of my life and to never forget that I am part of something far greater than I can see. I praise You for including me. In Jesus name, amen.
