Longing For His Presence

From Today’s One Year Bible Reading Plan at BibleInAYearOnline.com

How lovely is your dwelling place, O LORD of Heaven’s Armies. I long, yes, I faint with longing to enter the courts of the LORD. With my whole being, body and soul, I will shout joyfully to the living God.” - Psalm 84:1-2 NLT

Have you ever felt that deep, soul-level yearning for something more? Not for a new gadget or a vacation, but for a connection that fills you completely? That’s the kind of longing the psalmist is talking about here. It’s not just about being in a physical space; it’s about being in God’s presence, where everything else fades, and you’re fully immersed in His love and peace.

Think about it. The psalmist describes this longing as something that involves the whole being, body, soul, and spirit. It’s a desire that goes beyond the surface and reaches deep into the core of who we are. And it’s not just a fleeting wish; it’s a deep, persistent yearning that doesn’t go away.

But here’s the beautiful part: this longing isn’t in vain. God welcomes us into His presence. He invites us to come near, to draw close, and to experience the fullness of His love and grace. And when we do, we find rest, joy, and peace that surpasses understanding.

So, how do we cultivate this longing? It starts with recognizing that God is the source of all we truly need. It involves setting aside time to be with Him, to listen, and to allow His presence to fill us. It’s about making space in our busy lives to prioritize our relationship with Him.

Reflection Question: So here’s today’s reflection question: How can you create space in your daily routine to cultivate a deeper longing for God’s presence? What small step can you take today?

Prayer: Lord, Thank You for inviting me into Your presence. Help me to recognize the deep longing in my heart for You and to make time to draw near. Fill me with Your love and peace, and help me to live each day with a heart that seeks after You. In Jesus name, Amen.
