Living Chosen
From Today’s One Year Bible Reading Plan at BibleInAYearOnline.com
So, dear brothers and sisters, work hard to prove that you really are among those God has called and chosen. Do these things, and you will never fall away. - 2 Peter 1:10 (NLT)
There is something reassuring about knowing you are chosen. Not because of your perfect track record or flawless decisions, but because God, in His grace, set His love on you and invited you into His family. Peter reminds us that being chosen by God comes with an invitation to grow in faith and character. It is not about earning our place, but about walking steady in the truth of who we are.
In the middle of all the pressures and distractions life throws at us, God calls us to keep growing. He wants us to add to our faith things like goodness, knowledge, self-control, and love. Not to impress Him, but because those qualities help anchor us in truth and keep us steady when life feels like it is shaking all around us.
King Nebuchadnezzar’s story in Daniel 4 paints a vivid picture of how easy it is to lose our footing when pride creeps in. One minute he is at the top, looking over all he built. The next, he is brought low until he lifts his eyes and acknowledges the One true God. It is a reminder that our strength and stability do not come from what we achieve, but from staying rooted in the One who never changes.
So today, whether you are on a mountaintop or in a valley, remember you are chosen. You are called. And with God’s help, you can walk steady even when the world around you is shaking.
Reflection Question: What is one area of your life where God is helping you grow stronger and walk more steady in Him?
Prayer: Father, thank You for choosing me and calling me into a life of purpose. Help me grow in the qualities that reflect Your heart. Teach me to walk steady, rooted in truth, no matter what comes. In Jesus’ name, amen.
