Better Than New

Today’s key verse is taken from the daily Bible reading plan at BibleInAYearOnline.com

Who will come from Mount Zion to rescue Israel? When God restores his people, Jacob will shout with joy, and Israel will rejoice. - Psalms 53:6 (NLT)

If you’ve ever seen the show Overhaulin', you know the thrill of restoration. What once was a rusted-out, forgotten vehicle becomes a head-turning masterpiece, restored not just to its original condition, but often made even better than new. The transformation is stunning, complete with fresh paint, upgraded parts, and renewed purpose.

In the same way, God is the Master Restorer. He doesn’t just patch us up, He renews us entirely. Psalm 53:6 reminds us that when God restores His people, joy and celebration follow. Why? Because His restoration brings life where there was brokenness, beauty where there was ruin, and strength where there was weakness.

Job’s story is proof of God’s redemptive grace. After deep loss and suffering, God restored Job, not just to his former condition, but with double what he had before. Job’s restoration wasn’t the result of his efforts; it was the gift of a faithful God who specializes in turning ashes into beauty.

This is the grace of God in action. He doesn’t restore us based on what we deserve, He restores because it’s His nature. Through Jesus, we are made new creations, and every broken part of our lives is invited into the hands of the One who makes all things new (2 Corinthians 5:17).

No matter what you’ve lost or what’s fallen apart, your peace, your confidence, your relationships, or your joy, bring it to the Master Restorer. He’s not just able to fix it; He’s able to make it better than new.

Reflection Question: Is there an area in your life that feels broken or worn down, and how can you surrender it today to God’s restoring grace?

Prayer: Father, thank You that You are not just a fixer, but a Restorer. I bring every broken piece of my life to You and trust that You can make it better than new. Help me rest in Your grace and expect Your goodness. In Jesus Name, Amen.
