As Much As You Want

Today’s key verse is taken from the daily Bible reading plan at BibleInAYearOnline.com

They all ate as much as they wanted, and afterward, the disciples picked up twelve baskets of leftovers! - Luke 9:17 (NLT):ā€œ

Can you picture it? Thousands of people, families, kids, the elderly, all gathered on a hillside, listening to Jesus teach. They came for truth, for healing, for hope. But by the end of the day, they were also physically hungry. That’s when Jesus took five loaves and two fish, gave thanks, and fed everyone. Not just a bite. Not just enough to hold them over. Scripture says they ate ā€œas much as they wanted.ā€

What a picture of God’s heart! He doesn’t just want to meet our needs halfway, He wants to fill us. And not just physically, but spiritually too.

Jesus didn’t perform this miracle with flashy resources or endless supplies. He started with something small, and then He gave thanks. That act of gratitude opened the door for multiplication.

Sometimes we find ourselves in spiritually dry seasons, worn out, discouraged, maybe even a little numb. Life’s challenges feel bigger than our capacity to handle them. But like that hillside crowd, we have access to the same Jesus who satisfies fully and abundantly. The key? Start with what you have and lift it in thanksgiving.

When I’m feeling spiritually empty, I’ve found that thankfulness is my way back to fullness. It doesn’t mean the problems disappear, but gratitude shifts my focus and fills my soul. Thankfulness reminds me of who God is and what He’s already done. And just like the crowd that day, I find myself receiving more than I expected, leftovers of peace, joy, and hope.

So today, pull up a seat at the table of His goodness. There’s no limit. You can have as much as you want.

Reflection Question: Is there anywhere in your life you need to pause and give thanks, even before you see the breakthrough?

Prayer: Lord, thank You that You are more than enough. Help me to remember that even in lack or struggle, I can come to You and be filled. Teach me to live from a place of thankfulness, trusting that You will satisfy my heart completely. In Jesus Name, Amen.
