A Heart of Praise

Today’s key verse is taken from the daily Bible reading plan at BibleInAYearOnline.com

This is the day the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it. - Psalm 118:24 (NLT)

You know those mornings when you wake up and feel like you can take on anything? It’s like the day is full of possibilities, and you're ready to make the most of it. Psalm 118:24 captures that kind of vibe perfectly. It’s a reminder that every day is a gift from God, no matter what it holds. So, we’ve got a choice: we can either let the day overwhelm us or choose to embrace it with joy.

In this Psalm, the writer is doing a victory lap. Even when life gets tough, he reminds himself to celebrate God’s goodness. It’s easy to get bogged down by what’s going wrong, but this verse challenges us to focus on the fact that God is still good, and He’s still working for our good. Every day, no matter how it starts, is an opportunity to rejoice.

In 2 Samuel 1:1–2:11, we see David facing tough situations, but he never lost sight of God’s faithfulness. Even when things were uncertain, he kept his eyes on the bigger picture. God was still in control, and David knew that. Just like him, we can choose to focus on God’s faithfulness, even on days that don’t go the way we planned.

So, what if we all decided to take a minute today to just be grateful for the gift of today? It’s easy to get caught up in the busyness of life, but if we pause, we’ll see that this day really is a fresh opportunity to praise God. It doesn’t matter if everything is perfect, today is still a day to thank Him for all of His goodness.

Reflection Question: What’s one thing today that you can be thankful for, even if it’s small?

Prayer: Lord, thank You for this new day. Thank You for Your faithfulness, Your mercy, and the gift of today. Help us choose praise no matter what we face. Open our eyes to see Your goodness in the big things and the small things. We choose to rejoice because You are still in control. In Jesus Name, Amen.
